GOAL OF THE POSITION
This role is to ensure we translate our customers' instructions into PTS's work instructions - to best coordinate schedule between Workshop and the respective Test Departments.
RESULT AREAS/CORE ACTIVITIES
Operational & Leadership tasks:
1. Ensure client instructions were properly documented and communicated downstream
- Interpret customer's documents
- Ensure Customers' instructions align with the work scope stated our Quotation
- Cross-reference customer's instructions with reference specification(s)
- Ensure proper markings of Samples for machining/cutting
- Comprehensive and accurate input in DWO
2. Ensure there is clear internal communication pertaining to the job, including:
- Check for all internal (e.g., quotation) and external (e.g., mill certificate) documents
- Ensure they are uploaded to our Document Management System
- Ensure instant update of the documents whenever there are changes
- Ensure instant communication of any changes to downstream personnel
3. Oversee the scheduling and coordination of the test jobs with Workshop and Testing Department(s), including:
- Ensure there is prioritization of jobs
- Ensure anticipation of longer lead time for jobs that require special preparation works for specimens or fixtures
4. Engage customers with the aim to build & maintain strong relationship with customers, including:
- Understand customers' testing objectives;
- Attend to Customers' enquires and to provide professional technical advice
- Advise Customers on potential problems they might face
- Gives advice to Customers on minimum sample requirement
- Advise customers on applicable codes and specifications and associated tests and test methods
- Advise customers on required turnaround time and test schedule
- Advise customers on test outcomes and possible follow up actions
5. Work with Draftsman to draw up sample plans to advise customers and instruct workshop on cutting/machining
Administrative Tasks:
- Write and review department SOPs and work processes
Learning & Development Tasks:
- Attend cross training in the respective Test Departments & Workshop
- Conduct training to the juniors as well as Employees from Workshop
- Establish Training syllabus and Training materials
FORMAL PREREQUISITES FOR THE POSITION
- Master of Science or Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering / Material Science; or
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science
Technical Skills:
- At least 4 years in an ISO 9001 Manufacturing or QAQC role or equivalent; or
- 4 years of experience working under an ISO 17025:2017 based Quality Management System (QMS)
- Strong knowledge in common metallic materials and alloy specifications and chemical composition, especially in steels, stainless steels, nickel alloys, cobalt alloys, aluminium alloys, titanium alloys.
- Good knowledge on metallic material properties and their industrial purposes
- Good knowledge of welding consumables and processes and their applications
- Good Understanding of measurement uncertainty and factors contributing to it
Other Skills:
- Build and maintain good relationship with Customers
- Good communication skills (provide technical advice and explanation to customers on work/test performed)
- CWI or CSWIP 3.1 (will be an added advantage)
- PCN Level 2 in Visual Inspection (will be an added advantage)
