What You’ll Get to Do:

As the AFRICOM Senior Event Planner, you will support the development, design, execution, facilitation, and reporting of AFRICOM events, conferences, and engagements hosted and attended by AFRICOM staff, Components, and other authorized organizations to promote collaboration with U.S. allies and partner nations.

More About this Role:

The AFRICOM Senior Event Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing conferences and events including, but not limited to, symposiums, roundtables, engagements, or workshops.

  • Manage all functions of the AEC
  • Oversee daily operations within the USAFRICOM Event Center
  • Scheduling and management of all events
  • Manage the event center calendar, and deconflicts event requests
  • Provide oversight of all events that take place within the AEC, to include conferences, seminars, workshops, and briefings.
  • Perform the set-up, tear down and operation of the equipment in support of events involving up to 150 personnel
  • Operate the video teleconferencing system suite for all the rooms of the AEC, and provides instruction to AEC users to do the same
  • Collaborate with the USAFRICOM Protocol Office, security offices, and event action officers across the command, services, and components, to ensure seamless service and event success at all stages of event execution to include scheduling, rehearsals, set-up, translation, liaison interpretation, audio visual, tear-down and post events
  • Facilitate coordination between Action Officers and the AFRICOM Physical Security Office to obtain AEC accreditation for TS/SCI events
  • Ensure IT support is available for all events by coordinating with AEC IT Support and J6 personnel

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent years of experience
  • Two (2) years of experience in event coordination
  • Two (2) years customer service experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite of products
  • Secret Clearance or ability to obtain (U.S. Citizens only)

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Prefer prior military experience or experience supporting military events
  • Prefer ability to speak German, Arabic or French
  • Experience supporting the AFRICOM AOR
  • Top Secret / SCI Clearance or ability to obtain
