Subrogation Team Lead
PRIMARY PURPOSE: To lead the Recovery Unit which identifies and pursues potential Second Injury Fund, subrogation and excess recoveries arising from workers compensation claims.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensures compliance with established recovery procedures and standards.
  • Maintains quality control.
  • Conducts periodic file reviews of team members' files.
  • Acts as first-line authorization for litigation, including appeals, on any recovery claim.
  • Authorizes payment of bills over the delegated authority of the reviewer.
  • Makes recommendations to claim supervisor for employee discipline and terminations.
  • Administers EQUIP Program within unit.
  • Monitors team members' attendance.
  • Schedules client file reviews.
  • Prepares various type status reports for clients.
  • Enters recoveries into claims management system.
  • Obtains settlement authority from state funds; negotiates compromise settlements with state funds.
  • Identifies and effects recoveries due from excess carriers.
ADDTIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supports the organization's quality program(s).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Administers company personnel policies in all areas and follows company staffing standards and training recommendations.
  • Assists with interviews, hires and establishes colleague performance development plans; conducts colleague performance reviews.
  • Provides support, guidance, leadership and motivation to promote maximum performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Licenses as required.
Experience
Five (5) years of claims experience or equivalent combination of experience and education required.

  • Technical knowledge of recovery requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills
  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
  • Analytical and interpretive skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
