Your role
As the Head of Accounting & Control, you are responsible for leading and maintaining the financial data integrity across all our entities, presently in Luxembourg and the Netherlands, and any new countries we will venture into. You will be the linchpin of the financial structure of the organization, utilizing your extensive financial knowledge to steer the accounting team. Your strong communication skills, adaptability to the diverse layers of our international organization, and the ability to meet all deadlines collaboratively with your team members are crucial.
Your key tasks
You will spearhead the finance team together with the CFO, prepare various reports for internal and external stakeholders and conduct thorough financial analyses for accurate and compliant accounting. With a critical eye for process efficiency, you will identify potential improvements, lead change, and implement new financial systems and processes.
This role will also oversee the month-end-close process and liaise with external auditors for our annual audit.
Aside from those tasks, these are critical tasks to be executed on a monthly; weekly and daily basis:
Monthly
- Supervise the accurate and timely month-end close;
- Confirm the correctness of balance sheet positions and detailed specifications at the GL level;
- Manage the team responsible for depreciation, accruals, and provisions;
- Conduct comprehensive review and validation of accounting records.
Weekly:
- Oversee and confirm cash position reporting and 6 week cash flow forecasting;
- Oversee preparation of payment runs and ensure their timely execution.
Daily:
- Process bank statements;
- Review error logs on automated AP/AR bookings;
You have these claims to fame
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in accounting, with a significant portion in a leadership role;
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, tax laws, and reporting requirements;
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail;
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills;
- Experience with accounting software and systems;
- CPA or similar certification (e.g., CMA, CGA, ACCA);
- Bachelor's or Master's (preferred) degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or MBA;
- Experience working in the dynamics of a scale-up company;
- Experience and knowledge of international accounting standards;
- Proficiency in automation and process improvement in finance and accounting.
