JOB TITLE: Human Resources & Payroll Administrator (Based in the WELKOM STORE).

JOB PURPOSE: To manage all HR and Payroll activities within the store environment, with critical deadlines and objectives set to meet.

A National Wholesale and Retail leader in the FMCG sector, is urgently looking for a dynamic and experienced Store Buyer (Store Based) to join their existing team.

The successful candidate should have extensive experience in the relevant field of the position advertised and within a store or business environment (stores). The role is store based, allowing direct engagement with the employee who is your direct customer, in order to build relationships within the environment and assist employees with concerns to ensure productivity for the Operational Team.

The role is a critical role in store, in managing the support function of Payroll and Human Resources management in store and also a critical support to the Operational Support team

  • Organizing and maintaining personnel records;
  • Updating internal HR databases;
  • Preparing HR documents.

Key Job Responsibilities:

· Organize and maintain personnel records

· Update internal databases (e.g. record sick or maternity leave)

· Prepare HR documents, like employment contracts and new hire guides

· Revise company policies

· Liaise with external partners, like insurance vendors, and ensure legal compliance

· Create regular reports and presentations on HR metrics (e.g. turnover rates)

· Answer employees’ queries about HR-related issues

· Assist payroll department by providing relevant employee information (e.g. leaves of absence, sick days and work schedules)

· Arrange travel accommodations and process expense forms

· Participate in HR projects (e.g. help organize a job fair event)

Desired behavioural abilities:

· Demonstrated ability and experience managing employees, preferably in FMCG environments / related functions;

· Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to negotiate, persuade, sell, and resolve conflicts;

· Proven leadership abilities to support the operational team;

· Able to communicate with, engage and influence senior stakeholders – Regional Management team;

· Show respect and consideration for colleagues;

· Experience in our Industry (Wholesale and Retail) in a client centric approach and skills with a sense of urgency;

· Willingness to work in the store environment with daily engagement with the employees on queries and staff concerns;

· Be able to perform at an optimum level under pressure for extensive lengths of time and adapt;

· Able to generate above average results within a demanding and pressurised environment;

· Planning and Organising skills;

· Coping with pressure and setback;

· Persuading and Influencing management with confidence and reference to the law;

· Entrepreneurial and Commercial thinking.

Job requirements

· Must be able to work in a team environment and to support the team by being adaptable and able to carry out other function not define by the role requirements from time to time;

· Great communication skills-Must be able to talk to stores daily instead of emails. Personal connection with stores management team and national buyers.

· Computer skills-Must be able to work on Excel, Word with basic skills and able to understand and be trained on buying System.

· Must be Energetic - be hungry to get orders and assist stores making it easier to place orders- must make a difference.

Basic inherent Character Requirements due to the nature of the business:

· Self-starter that can adapt quickly;

· Must be resilient and manage the situation;

· Strong attention to detail especially in reports;

· Presenting and Communicating Information;

· Well-spoken in English and the following languages will be advantageous: Afrikaans / Africa Language from the area;

· Exceptional interpersonal skills;

· Excellent Communication skills.
