Key Purpose:
The function aims to assist the product technologists to achieve and maintain high technical standards in new products & process development and renovation of products & processes in portfolio. It is driven by business needs and is fundamental to contributing to sustainable business growth via new products, processes and packaging developments under appropriate I&R projects.
To fulfill this role the Application Technician has a very brought job scope composed out of the tasks described below. In daily working life the technician might not perform all tasks but focus on some of them.
The Application Technician is responsible to assist product technologist to facilitate and ensure that the manufacturing trials, 1st and 2nd industrial production are executed according the recipe or SOP established by the responsible technologist.
Tasks include;
- Ensure that the raw materials for manufacturing trials and 1st and 2nd industrial production are prepared according to the manufacturing recipe advised by product technologist.
- Ensure that the processing line and equipments are correctly set up for manufacturing trials or 1st and 2nd industrial production as per the processing flow diagram established by the product technologist.
- Ensure that the manufacturing procedure and processing conditions (pressure, temperature, time, flow rate and etc) are correctly applied according the recipe.
- Collect the samples of manufacturing trials or 1st and 2nd industrial production for KQ study, send samples to the lab for analysis, tasting and etc as per sampling plan advised by product technologist.
Ensure application of the quality system for the new product development processes as per guideline established by product technologist.
Tasks include;
- Arrange the product keeping quality test for the samples of manufacturing trials and 1st and 2nd industrial production according to the KQ monitoring plan. Summarize the KQ monitoring results for the Product technologist.
- Assist the product technologist to prepare the Pre-HACCP study.
- Collect the raw & packaging materials and finished goods samples and send to the lab for analysis.
- Collect the samples of manufacturing trial and if needed 1st and 2nd industrial production and send to PTCs and SBUs for official product approval
The Application Technician is responsible for assisting the technologist to develop the product recipe.
Tasks include;
- Prepare the kitchen samples as per guideline from the product technologist.
- Arrange the product tasting.
- Prepare the kitchen samples to marketing for consumer research.
- Send the samples to importing countries, PTCs and SBUs for evaluation.
The Application Technician is responsible for executing pilot plant trials to define process parameters and confirm the product recipe.
Tasks include;
- Conduct the trial according to the recipe or SOP established by the responsible technologist.
- Make sure equipment is properly prepared and cleaned before and after the trial
- Arrange the product tasting.
- Prepare the samples to marketing for consumer research.
- Send the samples to importing countries, PTCs and SBUs for evaluation.
The Application Technician can be responsible for creating the raw material or packaging specification, raw and packaging material registration in SAP as per guideline established by the reponsible technologist.
Tasks include;
- Create the raw/pack material specifications in the SAP system according to the draft specifications provided by the product technologist.
- Ensure the approval of raw/packaging material specifications in the SAP workflow are completed within the defined timeline.
- Request the new raw/packaging material number in the SAP.
- Ensure the workflow and status of for the new raw material is ready before industrialization.
The Application Technician is responsible for assisting product technologist to apply for the Halal certificate for new products and renewal of Halal Certificate for the existing products.
Tasks include;
- Consolidate the Halal certificates or Halal checklists for all the raw materials used for the new products
- Summit the raw materials specifications or Halal Checklist to Nestle Halal Chairman for endorsement before submitting to JAKIM.
- Liaise and follow up with JAKIM until receiving the Halal certificate.
