Key member of UK EMEA Leadership Team, ability to navigate and confidence in IFRS accounting standards to be able to ensure appropriate accounting and stewardship of the numbers.
Reporting into the Head of Finance UK EMEA, has 4 direct reports.
FC will be responsible for the below;
Month end activities
- Review and oversee preparation of the monthly reporting pack with analysis and commentary, and it’s submission to group on time
- Manage month-end close activities on time and accurately
- Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and work with shared-service centre to make necessary corrections
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and rules within tax, VAT and transfer pricing.
Reporting activities
- File annual statutory financial statements and complete regulatory requirements for all entities under this remit on a timely basis.
- Liaising with external auditors and being the main point of contact for the annual statutory audit.
- Review reconciliations and talk through risks with external auditors
- Review/clean-up reconciliations prepared by shared-service centre ready for external audit
- Preparing board papers on quarterly basis, detailing progress, ongoing reviews, internal/external audit actions
- Liaising with different stakeholders in the business
- Making sure senior stakeholders are kept in the loop with progress and any inputs needed from them to escalate/push forward
- Making sure collating information from necessary inputs or managing reporting stakeholders to provide information on time to meet deadlines.
Ad-hoc activities / project-based work
- Analytical deep dives into the historical postings and identify necessary corrections.
- Lead in transitioning all transactional/manual tasks to either be automated or moved to the shared-service centre.
- Manage third-party accountants and relationships thereof: ensuring regular reconciliation of data in their local books and our books, actively chasing/managing to ensure local submission on time (VAT, tax, statutory, etc.), respond to ad-hoc queries and lead regular catchups.
- Identify and implement automations and efficiencies to streamline processes to avoid repetition and improve accuracy.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors for reviews and year end audit; preparing reconciliations, responding to queries, manage shared-service centre to deliver requests.
What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified Accountant plus min 3 years and having held a FC role in a multinational company which has at least €50m of revenue
- Big 4 experience preferred (opened to Top 20)
- IFRS experience
- Be a German Language speaker
- Self starter and self motivator with strong communication and organisation skills
- Team management experience
- Strong academics (2.1 degree or above)
- Strong excel, data analysis skills
- Previous Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) experience would be useful
