Your job:
In this position, you will join our newly established AI team. The team will be focused on training and building machine learning models that directly power amazing new product features for all of our customers. You will get to take advantage of the latest breakthroughs in machine learning, such as large language models, fine-tuning of models, and reinforcement learning from human feedback. You will also be working on setting up and optimizing data pipelines which we use to train our models.

Your challenges:Develop machine learning models with PyTorch, to power new features in our tool
Optimize accuracy, precision, and recall of our existing models
Set up and maintain data pipelines to build high-quality data sets
Develop internal services that host our ML models and make them available to other teams via an API
Evaluate new open-source models for their suitability for our use cases
Fine-tune our models using our proprietary training data
Maintain our machine learning infrastructure using both internal and external tools
Scale up our model-serving infrastructure
Work together with our product and engineering teams to deliver larger projects

Who are you?
You are a software engineer, with a strong background in machine learning, who likes to write high quality code. You enjoy developing and improving ML models, and you can take them from prototype to production. You are interested in learning and applying both established and new techniques, such as neural networks, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and are not afraid of trying to apply recent theoretical breakthroughs to practical problems.
You enjoy writing typed Python programs that leverage modern language features like e.g. data classes, generators, and decorators where it makes sense to do so. You like working in a team, and to take ownership of your projects. Furthermore you fulfill the following requirements:
Excellent programming skills in Python
Previous experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or another machine learning framework
Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms and concepts (supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, etc.)
Experience with preprocessing data, and setting up data pipelines to create training data sets
Familiarity with SQL and relational databases, preferably Postgres
Good working knowledge of Linux, git, and the command-line
Committed to high engineering standards
Living in The Netherlands (or willing to relocate) and in possession of a valid work permit (if you’re a non-EU citizen)
Nice to have
Degree in a relevant field or equivalent thinking level.
Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) techniques and libraries like e.g. NLTK or SpaCy
Understanding of computer vision concepts and frameworks (OpenCV, ImageNet, etc.)
Knowledge of Python libraries like flask, asyncio, requests, sqlalchemy, FastAPI, Pydantic
Familiarity with cloud platforms and technologies (like e.g. GCP) for deploying machine learning models
Familiar with Haskell, Nix or other functional languages
Having worked with distributed systems before

The new team’s mission is to develop and train machine learning models that will power advanced features for our users. The team will make use of the latest breakthroughs in machine learning, and apply them to our problem domain. It will also be responsible for setting up and maintaining data pipelines that are used to build our training data sets, and for automating the training pipelines for our models.
