Job requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Proven work experience as an Inventory Clerk or similar role
- Working knowledge on Sage Evolution
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work extended hours if required.
- Forklift experience advantage
Job responsibilities:
SAGE EVOLUTION:
- Create new Sage items codes for all new equipment/spares/stock as requested by technical team.
- Where necessary, amend Sage item codes e.g., update / correct item descriptions based on supplier details.
- Create new Sage item codes for all workshop related mining plant items, as they are manufactured or refurbished for use based on the delivery note / invoice from the workshop. Note vessel items manufactured or refurbished on the vessel item spreadsheet & manifest.
- Process all adjustment transactions related to stock quantities and item values as required.
- Process reviewed Inter-Branch Transfers (IBT’s) from CPT warehouse to vessels when stock is moved between locations.
OTHER:
- Assist members onboard vessels, as well as Cape Town head office / yard, with all stock item queries related to the Pastel system such as the creation of new Sage item codes, stock adjustments (variances), purchase order queries, stock, etc.
Communicate with the Procurement Department, regarding Purchase orders and obtain all relevant documentation, which includes any information required to complete the necessary transactions.
- Proceed to carry out weekly stock-takes at the Cape Town Yard and warehouse.
- To act as liaison between Warehouse and Vessels.
- Receive items back from the vessels (VDA) and record the receipt appropriately. Mining plant items to be recorded in Sage, vessel items to be recorded on the vessel item spreadsheet.
- Embark on operating vessels for quarterly audits/stock takes as required.
- To conduct stock audits to identify obsolete items, ensure proper stock preservation, conduct stock counts onboard the vessels, and attend to the ships when they are in port or as needed while at sea.
- Stock to be verified and validated according with company protocols.
- Complete any verbal / written instruction as required by CFO / Group FM.
- Report all activities directly to Warehouse / Inventory Manager.
- Report any defects to Management.
- Accurate stock recording and controls of supplies, parts and equipment in the warehouse and yard
- Accurate inventory controls recording the storage area as well as data control of all inventory.
- Perform periodic inventory checks to ensure the accuracy of database information and minimize the risk of inventory losses or shrinkage.
- Supervision of the packing of goods received in logistics containers in a responsible and efficient manner and ensuring an accurate packing list is drawn up and attached to the container detailing requisition number, purchase order number and weight of each item packed.
- There may be a requirement to board the vessel for any additional work or emergency assistance should the need arise.
